Auto to Manual Conversion

I want to convert my '88 F150 Auto to Manual transmission. I have a basic idea of what needs to be done, but what exactly goes into it?

A '84-'91 donor truck is what you want for all the parts. Which manual do you want?

I'm not sure, how many different ones were there? All i know is that I want a 5 speed, no granny gear.

Like the phoenix this ones rising back up.

I have an '84 and would like to do this, is it an easier process on the older trucks (since there's little in the way of electronics) or is it still really gonna be a pain? I don't really care about the time consuming aspect of it. if I found a donor at the junkyard to take apart would there be any big surprises during the swap?
