Down Shifting Problem in 2000 5.4

Hi guys,
I ran into a strange problem today. While driving down the highway and exiting (and slowing), my truck down shifted so quickly it was like what I can only call "engine braking." The down shift reduced my speed quite a bit. When I tapped the accelerator to speed back up to tach increased about 300 RPM and then shot straight back down, slowing me some more. Its worried me all day long, and happened every time I coasted to reduce my speed under abut 60mph.

Let me tell you what I do know,
2000 F-150 4x4 V8 5.4L
I was working on my CB today so I had the battery disconnected for about an hour. I dont think that would have anything to do with it, but I'm not a pro at this tranny stuff.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ben

Mine does something similar for a few miles after battery is disconnected. Computer may be re-learning. Mine always goes away.

Sounds like what mine did see this thread https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=259335 Hopefully yours is simply the battery being disconnected and reconnected like the previous guy posted (sorry previous guy, didn't get your name before i posted my reply). If it keeps doing that I'd definitely get it looked at. When mine did it though, it was pretty much shot within a few more miles of driving once it started. So if yours is still going...disregard my reply!! (GOOD LUCK!!)
