ight.... my transmission will not go into drive .. well it will but it wont move and it will go into reverse and thats all no first or second (automatic tranny) i have heard it was the governer or the governer pin or something like that .... and i need some help please and thank you

 

There is no governor or governor pin in a '99 truck, so that isn't the problem. Most likely it's a burned up forward clutch. Off to rebuild land with it....

Besides a local transmission shop or a dealer you could buy a used unit from a salvage yard. For performance units I would suggest

Do you know someone who can rebuild it? I would suggest letting them get the kit if they are going to stand behind it I would think they would want to use the parts they want to use.

Im having the smae problem with my92 f150, e4od auto. if i disconnect my battery for a couple of minutes the computer resets and i can drive for a sort time. That shows me that the problem isnt with the tranny but with the electrical. there are a few sensors on the tranny that can come unplugged and just need some cleaning [Simple job] but mine is alittle more complicated, i think my problem has to do with the tps , but i havnt a clue how to check it.

 

didnt think of that...... ne ways im gonna drop the tranny friday and look at the cluch and stuff... if thats all i need then that will be great u know....

 

well i found a rebuild kit and with the stuff in it ... its better than stock

 

I doubt that. The oem late design frictions are the best you can get. The black friction with grooves in it is better than anything else produced...anywhere.

That's a bad assumption. You don't know that at all. It can take a few minutes for the computer to find a mechanical problem with the transmission.

What code is stored when the light flashes? If you don't know the code you'll waste a lot of time and money replacing good parts. A $25 code reader can read the codes in your '92. Get one and find out what's wrong, don't just guess.

 

Hello casey. The codes i get with engine running are as follows, 1-2-9, 1-6-7, 1-7-2, and 6-3-4. And yes i know its an assumption, but thats the best assumption I can afford at the moment.lol So its off to the junk yard to grab a couple of each sensors, and check for any improvments.

 

yay... a freidn found me a tranny for 350... now i just got to save the money for it
