Front Seal on a E40D?

What's involved in replacing a front seal on a E40D? I have a '97 F-150 4x4 4.6. And anything else I should do at the same time? Thanks

Tex,

Dont really know too much about the tranny seal, but did you ck the oil pan seal? Mine was pushed out and leaking on the left rear side. It looked like a tranny leak because of the location, but ended being the oil pan seal.

Just a suggestion if you havent looked.

Of course, if you're seeing red fluid......disregard.

Yes, Glade, it is the transmission. Fluid seems to be coming from the inspection hole in the bell housing. Thanks

Step 1: Place transmission on your workbench.

Step 2. Remove old seal.

Step 3: Install new seal.

Step 4: Get transmission off your workbench.

I'll leave it up to you to figure out what has to be done prior to Step 1 and after Step 4.
