I JUST CANT BELIEVE IT, on friday i took the truck to one of my local ford dealers, because i wanted to keep the expy the ford way u know, and they told me, we are not going to change the oil of ur trans, because those tranys are not supposed to have the oil changed, so i freaked and told them WTF i aint asking it for free, ill pay for everything, the oil, filter, all the stuff, and told me, NO, we dont want to blow ur transmission..

i cant believe it, ill have to go with that guy that charges me 100 bucks for everything.

Can't believe THIS.

I put in your specs, assumed you have a 4x4, and it says the trans fluid isn't supposed to be changed until 150K? Then I put in my '99 F150 (4x4, 5.4) and it says change at 30K.

Wierd.

4x4 or 4x2 shouldn't matter. (Picked the right motor, which also shouldn't make a difference.) Still going to say 150K for you, I'll bet. Maybe they figure a truck will be used like a truck, and the expy will just be hauling kids to soccer? (No offense. That's the duty most are called to these days.) Either way, 150K is a long interval.

Go to another dealer or a trusted independent mechanic. Some shops don't use flush machines, if that's the case ask them to drop the pan, change the filter, drain the torque converter and fill it up. You'll get 90% of the old fluid out this way and a '99 will have a torque converter drain plug. Be sure and use a Mercon V rated fluid.
