Transmission problem when cold

have an 89 F-150 302 V-8 4x4 with AOD transmission. the problem is when the truck is started (we let it warm a couple of minutes) and you shift into reverse it may take 5-10 seconds before it goes into reverse or OD or D or L. if you pull up to a stop sign and stop again it will take a few seconds before it moves. But after running 5-10 miles all is well, any suggestions ?? i've changed fluid and filter . thanks

I pretty much know nothing but, my 91 f150 did that in the cold, and about a year later the trans.. toast. Changed it today... now another smaller (hopefully) issue.
