M5OD differences

Just an FYI for those that are interested. The picture below shows the difference between the early 5 speeds found in the 97-98 F-150 and the 99+ F-150. The shift control housing has the shift tower moved back 55mm on the 99+ trany. This moves the shifter further away from the dash. The housings are interchangable. The housing on the right is from a 2000 and the left side is from a 98.

Sooooo question is then, will a 97,98 tranny shifter fit in the 99-03 trucks? Or is the dash gonna get in the way......I found a 98 m5 and I wanna swap it, but now I am worried it won't fit properly even after I cut the hole properly

I believe it should fit. Wasn't the dashes all the same in the 97-03 models?

Thanks guys...that's what I figured....JMC, u know the ins and outs of this tranny....did they just replace the top part with longer slides for the forks? Or was it all different inside...basically, will the 99 plate fit on a 98 tranny? And do u have one? lol
