air in transmission cooler for 1996 F150 EOD4?

My overdrive light for my automatic transmission started always blinking after about 5 minutes and I read in a repair manual that this could be caused by air in the transmission cooler and that I should bleed the air out. I had a transmission shop plug in a fault reader and was told it was a clutch slipage problem, he also told me that any air in the transmission cooler would be automatically bled out. Is this true about the air automatically being bleed from the cooler lines?
Thanks for any info.

There are many codes that can set the light so good call on gettin it scanned.

Not sure what manual would say that? If air would somehow get in the cooler, it would be forced out as soon as you started the truck.

Yes, that's true. As soon as the engine is started the trans pump will force all the air out of the trans cooler.
