first tranny fluid change interval?

03 Exp, 4.6l. Just wondering if I should change the fluid. Has about 34K miles on it, but the manual says first change is at 60K.

Any thoughts about changing sooner on a "newer" tranny? And what kind of fluid is recommended if it needs changing.

Thanks,

John

If you're manual calls for 60k, do it then. I know mine calls for it at 30, but I don't worry about it till 40-45k. Tranny fluid is pretty forgiving, but don't let it go too long.

My manual says 30,000 and I had the service done that includes a filter change. It gets about half the fluid (as opposed to a flush that forces it out of the torque converter). I plan on changing the filter and fluid every 30,000.

I have over 182,000 hard miles on mine and I've only changed it once.

If it was my truck, I'd flush it.
