Doh!!

Hey guys and gals,

I'm having a problem and was hoping that someone here would have some insight as to what would be causing this.

So, the problem is with my F-150 ( the Stang's tow vehicle ). I just put another engine in it since the old one ate a piston. My problem is when I went to fire it up, it seemed something was binding. The motor was turning very slowly and making an unhealthy noise.

After a few attempts the engine would not turn at all. I knew the battery was on the way out so I bought a new one. Now the engine does not turn at all. Even if I put a breaker bar on the crank I can't get it to turn. Now, I know the engine was turning freely when I put it in, I had to turn it to line the torque converter up with the flex plate.

So, my question is this. Could the transmission cause all of this to bind up? The engine was out of the truck for about a year before I got around to putting in the new engine. So the truck sat with no hood and the tranny was exposed to the elements.

I must admit that I dont know alot about automatic transmissions. All of my stangs are manual.

How do I figure out if this is my problem?

Or could there be something else that is causing this to bind up?

Any help would really be appreciated.

Ok,

So I chated with some friends of mine and it looks like my torque converter is locked up. The converter sat on my garage floor, out of the elements, so not sure why it would be locked up. Also, I noticed that when I put the converter in the tranny before putting the engine in, the converter did not spin. From what I am being told, it should spin.

Oh well, lesson learned I guess, lol.
