Speedo gear

I need a new speedo gear for my VSS sensor. I counted 20 teeth on the current one and it had 255/65r16 on it then I put on 285/75r16s on. What size gear should I go get to correct the speedo or how do I calculate it to find out which one I need?
Thank you

hey i had the same setup you are talking about -

255's to 285's
my truck is a 97 so i hope it applies to you too. heres the quote and link that helped me out --

"Call Dan @ T&C ford tell him you need a 18 tooth speedometer gear that will work with a 4r70w transmission."

http://www.fordpartshq.com/

that website is the same one that i ordered my VSS gear from. the guy there is very nice and helpful

dirtyd0g is the members' name who gave me that information back a while ago... he was a great help. search his name and "VSS gear" if you want the actual forum conversation.

Thank you. I looked through the forums and did a search and saw that so I went ahead and bought an 18 tooth last night and installed it. Thanks for letting me know.

I have recently went from 245/75/16 to 285/75/16 and want to correct my speedo as well. How much did this gear cost and how do i find out more information on how to do it? any good links out there or can you help me?

Thanks,
