Transmission shifts hard with A/C on

I have a 2005 FX4 F-150 5.4L with under 14,000. The transmission on this truck has always seemed flaky from the start. Most recently, and most notably, when I have the A/C on, the truck has a heck of a time shifting from 1st to 2nd. Sometimes it seems to slip, other times the transmission gets into a wierd state and almost stalls/grinds/sounds like *!$?. Now, I am afraid to ever step on it with the A/C on and have to baby it from 1st to 2nd and let the RPMs get up a bit before I can put any peddle to it at all. It happens infrequent without the A/C on. I took it to the dealer for the 10K checkup and they said "we are monitoring at and there is a service bulletin out on it" but could provide no details or answers. Any one else having this problem?

Also, I read a thread on here about someone saying their truck sounds like a diesel. This is another issue I pointed out to the dealer because my kids even joke about it (6 and 9 year old boys) and they said the same thing...we are monitoring it. IT is not a diesel and should not sound like one.

Anyone else experiencing these issues? I love the truck but these issues are driving me nuts. I got rid of a 1996 F-150 that I loved and never had near the issues with it.

Hard shifting Transmissison

Same situation here. I just took my '05 FX4 to Texoma Ford Yesterday. They replaced an accumulator spring for the shift between 1st and 2nd gear. They also reprogrammed the PCM per the service bulletin. Shifts better than when it was new!
