squeak at 4000rpms

When I accelerate hard and reach 4000rpms I hear a squeak. I think its coming from trans but not sure. I immediately take my foot of the gas when I hear it. What is it? Solutions?

Easy now...

This is the hardest and somewhat undoable thing to do over any forum. When you get off the gas does the noise go away? Or does it go away when it drops under 4000? How bout stopped in neutral at 4000? You're not really specific.

When I am in park or in neutral and rev my engine it doesnt make the squeak. It is when I am driving and I accelerate up to 4000rps (around there) it produces a loud squeak when I hit that number. As soon as I hear it I take my foot off the gas and it goes away. The sqeak is a real quick short because I take my foot off the gas.

Is it when it shifts at WOT? If so it is your accessory belt. What I think happens, after the belts have some age on them, when the engine RPM drops during the shift, The accessories are still going full RPM and "lay a little rubber" when the slow down.

That's it, replace the belt or ignore it. Which is pretty much what I have done.

I have the same problem with a Napa (Gates) belt since new. I ignore it because I seldom push it that hard and it doesn't always do it.

Save your $ and replace the belt after it's worn out?
