Transmission Noise

Hi, I'm a novice here so I hope I'm providing enough info. I have a '05 FX4 that I bought new and I've only put 4,900 miles on it. It's my first truck and I love it but I'm experiencing what I believe is a transmission issue and I want to get your thoughts. If I'm rolling slowly such as when approaching a red light, then I suddenly get back on the gas when the light turns green (without stopping), the transmission catches with a loud clunk. It's kind of jarring and it doesn't happen very frequently but it seems unnatural to me. It's also difficult to duplicate on purpose so I'm hesitant to take it in for service. Does anyone think this is indicative of a big problem? I know I've never felt anything like it in any coupe/sedan I've ever owned. However, this is my first 4x4 and I'm wondering if it's normal. Thanks in advance.

I would say it's normal, but keep on checking and seeing when it happens if it gets worse. I've had some pretty bad noises coming from underneath and never showed it's face again so WTF??? Since it is new, and it worsens, have the dealer check it (warranty). I find the newer tranny's make weird noises alot, but apparently it's normal. You'll definetely notice alot more with a 4x4 than with a car, it's a truck and makes lots of noises. Wait till you drive in 4wd and then you'll see clunks and hard turns etc. Read through the manuals to see what to expect.

Kinda hard to do this kind of diagnostics over the board, but the AOD/4R70w/4R75e have a rep for being "clunky". Unless we hear it, not sure what to tell ya.
