My trucks M5OD is having problems. when i put it in neutral from another gear something in not disengaging because when i let off the clutch it jerks forward and sometimes dies. and when i put it from like first to reverse after startup will just freeze up and not go any where kinda like i'm trying to pull 20 tons of steel it just wont move but the engine is under load, it just started doin this

 

You could try four quarts of fresh Mercon, but your prolly gonna want to start searching junkyards.

Check your shifter linkage for excessive slop.

If the linkage is tight and there's no play, then it's tranny time.

There is no way that i'll be able to find a m5od in a junk yard its to popular tranny. I think its tranny rebuild time. when i can save the 1300 its gonna take, my neighbor wortks as a mechanic at a major ford dealership and he said that he will overhaul my tranny, repace my rear main and oil pan gasket and possibly do my clutch too for 1/2 his hourly wage and his parts cost, is this a good deal??????
