I can get it to run by turning the ignition to the first setting, then putting it in Neutral and cranking it up. It works but I am not sure what to do. It is either a faulty wire and or by Switch. What is also funny is that my windshield wipers stop working when that fuse goes out so I am at a loss as to where to start.
Start by identifying your vehicle. There was a major change in the circuitry between the 03-prior and 04-later model years. Advice for one is not particularly relevant for the other.

If an 03 or older, did you have your cruise recall performed?

Actually, NO, and I apologize for not providing better identification. (2001)

However after I disabled the cruise control. I am all good so far. It has lasted for 6 restarts when before it was only 2.

I know what you are thinking I am an idiot for not getting that fixed. Trust me I am now well aware of that.

That switch was loaded with brake fluid, I am surprised my truck did not burn up. At first I thought it was built up condensation over the years, but no....it was not.

After reading many posts, and doing much wire investigation, I learned quite a bit today. I still hate my F-150, and will never buy another ford. But I have put so much money into this horrible truck I am going to ride it into the ground. I was a ford buyer 5 total until this truck. I am just tired of the recalls and poor quality. The last ford that I had that was rock solid was my 95' T-Bird. I cried the day I sold it and have been hating myself ever since. Great motor and extremely solid vehicle. No major problems for the 12 years I had it.

BTW this is a very nice place I will try to provide what I know for sure in return for the info I garnered from here.

Peace.

I just had the same problem today. I found out that if I disconnect the wire harness for the cruise control it wont blow the fuse anymore. The harness had brake fluid on it so I supposed that was the problem. I had the recall done today to replace the CC solenoid(?) and it is still popping the fuse when the CC is connected..... Anyone have a clue as to my possible problem? 2001 F-150 V-8 5.4L

P.S. Does the wiring harness for the Master Cylinder cruise control switch feed power to anything else?

Anyone? The cruise controll recall replaced master cylinder solenoid is blowing my fuse. It has 30V at the Green/Red wire and I don't know why...?
If you have any info. why that would happen please throw me some suggestions.

I actually had the same problem with my 2001 f150. I took it to the mechanic to have the brake pedal sensor checked because I thought this was the problem. The sensor will not allow the truck to be put in gear unless your foot is on the brake. I had the sensor changed and the fuse and had no trouble for about 2 hrs. When I got out of work I noticed I had no int. lights wipers power locks or windows. The next morning I changed the blown fuse and while messing around under the dash I picked my head up to notice smoke pouring out from under the hood. Well to make a long story short it ended up being the overdrive sensor located on the master cylinder. The sensor shorted out and blew the fuse that controled my lights wipers, power locks windows and brake pedal shift sensor. This is the part that was recalled by ford not to long ago. I went to the dealer and paid 20 for the the new sensor and a wire harness that plugs into the old one and the new sensor. I sent the recete to ford motor company for the part and was refunded my 20. Simple to replace as well, hope this helps

Here in Calgary the dealers won't let me even buy the harness for the recall. They put me on a waiting list to have it installed by them. It has been a month so far and nothing. They would not even unplug it as has been recomended. They said that they do not do that anymore because the tech does not get paid for it. I said it takes 2 minutes and what happens if my truck catches on fire because you would not unplug it. They had no answer. I am more than capable of unpluging it myself but what if some older lady with no mechanical knowledge comes in. I guess it is too bad, just let it burn. Very sad that this is what customer service is now.

Sounds like an isolated dealer's handling. Call Ford Canada and your equivalent to the US' NHTSB and complain if it concerns you enough.

In the mean time, disconnect it yourself and be done with it.

Thumbs up To get your truck into drive, t

I bought an '04 F-150 Lariat 4x4 supercab w/40k on it last week & love the truck so far except 2 days ago it wouldn't come out of park, there I sat at the drive up window at the bank in my shiny black truck unable to move because the shifter seemed 'locked in place'.

It has the flow through console and floor shifter.

After many repeated attempts it finally shifted into drive. I took it by the dealer I bought it from and of course it wouldn't do it again. Now, it's sunday and I was going to take 'er for a spin with my neighbor and wouldn't you know...it wont come out of park again.....VERY VERY EMBARRASING. I've tried shutting off and restarting the engine, everything I know of to try and still there it sits. Most automatics with a floor shift have an 'emergency' release for the shifter somewhere activated by depressing an indent with a straightned paper clip etc... but I can't locate the telltale small hole anywhere. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help.....stuck in Wyoming.
I own a 2002 f-150-alt lariet 4x4 crewcab nice truck

Nah, he just cruised in, probably as result of a Google search, and decided to
show off immediately upon arrival.

Typical noob behavior.... He'll learn eventually (maybe...).

..and another one....

You've got the owner's manual, the fuse box location is in there.
