You are on the right track...looking for folks that KNOW how to build a 4R is the first step...not just any trans-shack can do the good stuff.

I suggest level 10, as they have been building for years and know the AOD pretty well, so the 4R is just a step above.

Screw Lentech, foget thier Canadian BS

Also look into BroaderPerformance.com in Texas

Factory Tech does a great job and uses PROVEN technology in his trans, though not highly specific, he knows what to do for a 4R to work great.

How much torque can the monster box handle? I figure it can handle 700hp, but my engine makes a lot of torque.

Anything you can throw on it.

I doubt it! It won't like what I have in store for it. Neither will the rest of the truck!

Brake a MonsterBox first, then we talk... "Speak, even a parrot can speak, but do the things it's a lot different".

Maybe it will, maybe not, but unless that transmission can hold back 1,700 ft/lbs of torque, it's not gonna do it... I called Jasper, and the sales rep couldn't even recommend me a tranny.

The transmission is rated to handle about 700ftlb's of torque. Hp really has no play in that. Unfortunately the Jasper Reps usually don't know much about the performance transmissions. As far as specs go applications can vary so it is hard to put up a general list of specifications with a note at the bottom saying this part changes if this and that part changes if that.

If you're going to be making 1700 ft/lbs of torque, the tranny is going to be the least of your worries. What about the rest of the truck ripping apart as soon as you punch the throttle?

I want to see the engine that puts makes this power.
Isn't that approaching big-rig levels of torque?

8.3 Liter, inline 6, wet sleeved, water to air aftercooled, cummins turbo diesel.

I have been looking for months for a crippled F-350 or a Dodge 3500 to put it in, and I can't find one. So, I figured it would be just as cool to put it in an F-150! But regardless of what truck it goes in,(probably not the F-150), I still need a tranny! Some people say that the F-150 is too small, but it is not. The motor WILL fit. And since every other aspect of the drivetrain is going to have to be custom regardless of which truck I choose, the F-150 should do fine.

Seriously though, It'll probably go into an F-350 or dodge 3500. If I can ever find one..... If ya'll know anybody with a crippled truck that they would like to donate, or sell for under $6,000 or so, just let me know!

The motor originally came out of a cotton picker. I had been planning this all along, but my plans got accelerated when the cotton picker burned up. The engine was spared, however, and after almost 4 years of sitting, I got it running again. It runs really good, and in the mean time, we're gonna use it as an irrigation motor. (I already installed a clutch and some safety switches). Now I'm looking for a truck and tranny. I posted in the Lightning section about swaping engines and trannys and how you guys get the guages to mate back up with them. It seems to me that would be my biggest obstacle to overcome. (regardless of which truck I use)

The engine (as it sits) only makes 300 hp and 850-900 ft/lbs of torque, but the Cummins-South Rep assures me that it will EASILY handle 700hp and 1600-1700ft/lbs without spending a fortune on it.

I'm poor, and all my money is going into the transmission. I won't have enough left over to buy a truck for the thing, so that's why I was thinking of using the F-150. Why not? It'd essentially be an F-350 when I finish with it!
