removing tran. cooler from radiator circuit

I frequently tow on steep, rough , logging roads and high transmission temperatures have been an issue. Currently I have two large after market stacked plate transmission coolers ( one with a cooling fan ) in line with the engine radiator. The coolers do a decent job of cooling but also reduce the engine temperature to 180 when running at speed.

I was contemplating removing the the engine radiator out of the loop but am concerned what effect cool transmission oil temp will have on my transmission.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Your thermostat should prevent your engine from running cool?

If your running a bit colder then normal, I would check that .

Thanks for the reply. The thermostat was changed recently and I have autometer mechanical guages so I can accurratly monitor temps. When I added the second trans. cooler, engine temp. dropped.( approx 10 degrees). If I disconnect the rad circuit, I'm concerned that the trans. will run too cool and possibly damage tranny.

Any thoughts?

Give some example of your converter and pan towing temps and how much total weight.
You can't really over cool the trans except in winter temps.
The thing you can get into pulling loads up in the 10,000 combined weight + range is ballooning the converter. This has nothing to do with heat.
Been there.
