'93 E4OD won't shift when cold

Hey guys, I'm looking at buying a '93 F150. It's got about 200k miles and seems to be in good condition... except for the transmission. When it's cold, the transmission will not shift out of park for about 30 seconds. After that, it's fine. The current owner claims that this only happens if it's been sitting out overnight, and that there are no problems with the transmission if it's only been off for a little while. He said he got it checked out by his mechanic and was told that there was a module that needed to be replaced and the part was only $20(but didn't say what the labor would cost).

Does anyone have any thoughts about this? If it's a cheap fix, or if it really isn't going to get any worse then I have no problem buying this truck. However, I don't really want to buy it if I'm going to have to rebuild the transmission within a couple months.

Search around for the TRS sensor.

It is a buyers market right now for trucks and I think you can find a lower milage E4OD.

Welcome aboard too!
