Truck stalls in reverse and 1st gear

I have a 1993 F150 with an E40D tranny...when I put it in reverse or 1st gear it dies. I have to seriously get on the gas for it to stay running. Does anyone have any suggestions where to look? I am dumbfounded and I am close to taking it to a mechanic...

Things to check:

Low trans fluid.
Loose internal filter.
Wiring problem to the torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid.
Bad TCC solenoid.
Stick valve in the valve body.
Bad torque converter.
Bad pump.

Don't forget engine performance problems such as a vac leak or something like that possible even a gummed up IAC.
