Which gears?

Comeing out of the factory there are two different gears you can get, i dont remember what they are. I was wondering what they are and which is best for racing. Also is it better to race with o/d on or off?? thanks

Define racing?

A higher number gear (lower gear) gives more grunt on the bottom end.

A lower number gear (higher gear) helps the horsepower on the top end.

Depending on the year, you could have several more ratios...

Basically, F150's can have a 3.08, 3.31, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10 gears in them.

If you are 'stop light racing', you want 4.10 or lower (4.56, etc...)

If you are 'dry lake bed racing', you want 3.08 or higher (2.xx, but don't think they make 'em, but there you go)

To find out what you have, check the code on the door jamb under AXLE and look up that code here and that's what you are running...

Once you have your door jam code, go here:
