OD Slipping

I'm getting ready to head to the dealer and wanted to check to see if there was something a do it yourselfer coud try.
When in over drive I slow down to about 50mph at approx 1500 rpm and then try to accelerate it feels as if it is jumping out of gear. If I get off the throttle then back on all is well. It is intermittant.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

When you switch the OD off, does it stop?
If yes then you need internal service.

My dealer could not find the problem so I decided to drive until the issue got worse or set a code. Well, it definitley got worse and I found that the transmission would have the slipping feel in 2,3,or OD. Pulling my camper finally helped to set a code, I've never been so happy to see the Check Engine Soon light come on. PO308 = #8 misfire. I'm going to replace its COP this weekend. I'll post my results.
Anyone have a recommendation on plugs while im in there? (80,000 mi. it's time)

#8 Coil Over Plug and 8 new spark plugs did it. She's running smoother than ever. I went with OEM replacement parts, I could have done it cheaper but I'm still a believer. Strange thing, all plugs were clean except the #7 with some white deposits.
My thanks to all on this forum that help directly or indirectly through a post.

Mat Adam's Technical article “Changing Spark Plugs on a 5.4 V8” was excellent. (I can’t imagine how this could be accomplished without removing the fuel rail)

Seems you had a bit of a uniqie problem that caused it to act like that and be Od sensitive.
I could only guess what the sequence of events was.
Any way good that it was that easy.

Low-grade misfires commonly manifest in OD, especially at lower speeds and when gently accellerating. The engine is "lugging" more at that point and a weak coil will often start to exhibit breakdown symptoms under thesew conditions.

It is very easy to confuse this with torque converter shudder and is not easy to diagnose without a scan tool.
