How much HP will my factory Tranny hold?

Hello all! Quick question...how much horsepower will my factory tranny hold? I own a 2001 Ford Lightning..and have just started performace upgrades. So far all I have done is a 6lb. lower pulley, predator street tune, NGK-6 plugs, and it has been dyno tuned. I have 394.9rwhp and 521.7ft.lbs. of torque. I am getting ready to add a blower pulley, cold air intake, throttle body, and intake plenium. But I don't think my tranny will support the hp increase. Anyone know for sure if it'll be ok or not? If not what can I do to prevent my tranny for blowing up? Or where can I purchase a built tranny at a reasonable price?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Howdy, welcome. I'm not to familiar with the lightning, but diesel experience tells me that with the 4R100 will take big power as long as cooled properly. So I would recommend big stacked plate coolers and a tranny temp gauge. Also go poke around the lightning section to see what they do.

900 maybe

if i remember correctly...the lighting transmission is good for 900 horsepower. Also something to think about maybe. The F250's come with a 5.4L 6speed. A possible 6speed transmission swap is possible. that would def. be an SRT 10 eater.lol. Manual Trannys push power to the wheels much better than auto's

Many of the 01 transmissions were the trouble units. There were also several tsb's on the external cooler.

Ever drive a ZF6 or a older ZF5? As much as I love stick, and how super tough the ZFs are, speed shifters they are not.
