I have a 2001 Super Crew 4x4. Where is the filer hole for the trasfer case fluid? I look and don't see it. Any help would be most appreciated.
There should be two plugs towards the rear of the transfer case. One is a fill plug and the other one is a drain plug. I filled my transfer case back up with Amsoil transmission fluid. I had to use a special syringe tool that looks kind of like a grease gun and works like a bicycle pump. It siphons the fluid through a hose. You then place the hose into the fill plug and pump the fluid into the transfer case. It is suggested to drive in 4wd for about 15 minutes in all gears including reverse before you change the transfer case fluid. It is also suggested to drive the vehicle for a short distance after changing the fluid and re-check the fluid level again. The fluid level should be level with the fill plug. If fluid runs out of the fill plug, then just let it drain out until it stops (in a drain pan).
The pic makes me feel like a blind man. I'll blame it on dirt in the eye. Thanks again.
Heh, you should have seen me looking for it again last night to take the picture. I didn't just go right to it as I don't do hands on work on my F150 everyday. Then I took about 30 pictures at different angle to get a picture that meets my standards. Those plugs aren't exactly in a great place for taking pictures of them.
