fluid question

do they sell just plain mercon or is mercon/dexron the same thing? Ford specifies that i use mercon tranny fluid in my ps pump.

Mercon/Dexron is basicly the same. Honestly the PS pump isn't really going to care what ATF you use.

MERCON and DEXRON III are so similar that you will never find a fluid that has only one of those ratings.

when i used mercon III/dextron in mine I got alot of noise from the pump. Swithce back to mercon V and it shut up.

Ford dealerships sell Motorcraft XT-2-QDX Mercon/Dexron III for $2.XX per qt.
