Transfer case seal replacement?

2000 Expy with Borg Warner transfer case. I need to change the rear seal. It looks easy enough to drop the driveshaft. Is there a trick removing the old seal? Is there a better way to install the new one?

Thanks

Gary

If you have the black rubber seal with a lip on it that goes over the slip yoke, it is very easy to change. Pull the driveshaft out and use a prybar to pop the seal out. Be carefull not to gouge the tail housing where the seal sits. The transfer case will leak fluid out the tail shaft when the driveshaft is removed, so ck the level when you are done. To put the new one in, just push it in as far as you can with your hands, then use a small hammer to lightly tap it into place. Hope this helps!!!
