Removing an M5OD-R2

I am trying to slide back my tranny to change the slave cylinder. I have Removed everything i need to be able to slide it back, but i can only get it to go back about an inch. Can anyone tell me if there is some sort of trick to this. The only thing i havent taken out is the crossmember that the torsion bars connect to because I have no means of unloading the front suspension.

Your going to need to unload the front suspension and remove the torsion bars, you can use a 2 jaw gear puller for that, I have the instructions at home I can get them for you if you want them

yea if there is a simple way for me to unload the front suspension with basic tools the instructions would be great. Otherwise I just may let a mechanic at it. I don't have a 2 jaw puller or a place to rent one in town.

Are you serious about having to remove the torsion bars? How do these keep you from removing the transmission?

I have done this on my Mustang and I was trying to help my friend pull his 5-speed from his 2002 F150 this evening and we cannot get it out. It sounds just like what is being said here, you can only move it back about 1 inch.

Is it hard to remove the torsion bars?

Yeah I know you have to, I'm not sure exactly what the reason is for, but my best friend is a master ford mechanic and when my slave cylinder went out he said the torsion bars have to come out to get to it, so I just took it to a shop, they charged me 285 bucks and that included the cost of the slave cylinder

I have the instructions out in my truck because I am putting larger torsion bar keys in it to level it out, but you get a 2 jaw gear puller, put tension on the torsion bars and back the adjuster screw out, once you do that you pull out the keys and slide the bars forward and pop them out, if that isn't exactly write I will get the instructions from the truck and repost them

Well thanks for everything, but I think im just gonna take it to the shop on thurs morning. I dont have the stuff needed to pull the torsion bars. I really dont understand why the slave cylinder went out, it only has 60,000 miles on it.
