I have a 2003 SuperCrew 5.4L with 134,000 miles on it and i was wondering about my tranny. Most of the time when i am driving around town my tranny shifts fine but sometimes when i go to accelerate to about 2500 rpms the tranny will shift a little rough into 3rd gear. Nothing like a big clunk or anything but just a little harder then normal. Also this happens everytime i do it is when i am cruising on the highway going about 70 and i accelerate the tranny will shift as smooth as my mom bmw into 4 gear but when i really want to get on it and it goes to shift down into 3rd gear it hesitates a good second or two untill it shifts in. And when it shifts in it has a good jerk to it. Even when i am going through town at about 35 mph and i get to the end of town to the 55 mph zone and go to give it some gas it does the hesitation thing. It has been doing this since i bought it about 11 months ago and isnt really getting any worse that i can tell. I was wondering if this is a major sign of my transmission going out or if i need to get a rebuild done or just if changing the fluid and filter would help at all.
