Hand clutch
Hand clutch
I have a '93' F150 with 5sp tranny. I am looking for a way to operated the clutch by hand using a lever on the shifter. I still want the option of using the normal foot operated clutch as well. Any ideas for doing this?
Thanks, Bob

The power that the human hand can develope will never suffice to push a truck clutch given the distance of the stroke available using a hand control. A motor cycle clutch is much weaker and doesn't require as much power to move. Some sort assistance such as vacuum like the brakes would be required. Maybe an electric motor that is controlled by a rheostat switch like that used for the heater blend door. Incorporate that type of a switch into a brake handle and have it control an electric motor that would pull / release a cable attached to the clutch pedal. Would not a T fitting spliced into the clutch line try to push fluid to both the slave and pedal master cylinder? I could see the master cylinder overflowing...

Oops.... yup.... guess I need to refine my design idea first, huh?
Once the master cylinder piston was back past the compensating port, there would be nothing to stop the fluid from backing-up....
OK, I didn't say it was a GOOD idea....
Might just be time to learn how to three-foot the pedals.
