Where should the cluch actually engage?

I mentioned last week that the dealer installed a new clutch. This clutch engages just before halfway The original clutch engaged lower to the floorboard. Is there some measureable allowable tolerance that mechanics use to determine if clutch is "within specs"? I'm taking it back tomorrow to have it checked. To me, the clutch is still releasing too high. I thoight driving it for a week would help but it hasn't. Looks like the clutch fluid level is good. It's not spongy, although i've noticed it's harder to shift into some gears.

The truth of it is that it doesn't matter where it releases. The only two things that matter are if it releases completey and engages fully. When putting in a new clutch, especially if it's not OEM, it will feel different.

Halfway should be about right. Comfortable for me anyway. Now jump in an older truck with a mechanical linkage and THATs a real change in feel.
