97 4x4 not disengaging

I have a 97 F150 with manual 4x4 shift. My dashlights are always on, which keeps my front end engaged, with the lever in 2H range. I have had to manually switch the vac. solonoid line to disengage the front end. Reading thru some on this site, looks like possibly the transfer position switch is bad, indicating that the xfer case is always in 4x4 range? Any other thoughts or opinions on this issue? Is this a Ford only part? Thanks so much in advance.

Sure sounds like it, and yes it will be a ford part.
