Trans Slip in OD

First of all I have a 92 5.8 2wd with a E4OD, at least I think Door code is E. The tranny slips in OD but only going up a hill in 3rd gear it goes just fine, no slipping what so ever. When driving on flat roads its completely fine. I'm just wondering if it needs a rebuild seeing how it only has 87000 miles or if its something more simple.

Anybody, I really need some other opinions. I can really afford to have serious tranny work done right now.

OK, you didn't like the torque converter answer. Here's a less expensive answer: It's normal, don't worry about it.

It isn't true, but you don't want to hear the truth, so just go with that.

I know it sounds odd, but have you changed out your plug wires and plugs? Mine felt like it was slipping in OD for a long time (couple years). Then I changed out the plugs and wires doing some preventive maintenance, and the "tranny slip" in OD never happened again.

Hey man, I am a newbie, but I think you are not suppose to be pulling uphill in OVERDRIVE!!!

If you are pulling a lot, near max, or even just half the maximum, OD should be off on hills.

If you're not having any other problems in other gears, I'd more likely say you're getting ready to wave bye bye to that tranny.

My old AODE in my mustang, 89 vintage, started doing that when it got hot. After a while, it started doing that all the time. Same thing is a chitty little bronco II I had, OD would start slipping, engauge and disengauge at its own discretion. Start hunting for a new one.
