How long does an 4R70W last?

There's no way to put a lifetime on a transmission. Nothing you can do will stop a hard parts failure from scattering the unit. Keep it serviced, don't beat on it too hard, and hope for the best.

Mine lasted 7 years and 124K. I went ahead and had it rebuilt.

Happy Ford owner.
The dealerships have a flushing machine just for getting the old oil out of the tranny.
