Clutch Replacement-any suggestions?

I am about due to replace the factory clutch in my '98 4X4 F-150. I don't do a lot of towing, but when I do, it can be pretty heavy. I would prefer something pretty heavty duty, but not outragious on price. Was wondering what everyone reccomends for a replacement clutch.

I put a centerforce I on my 92, and love it. Plan on the same for dads 97. Although these trucks arn't as simple as the OBS to do a clutch job on.

Edit: just looking on the centerforce website, they only show a 4.6L centerforce I clutch for 99+ and not 97-98. Anyone know why?

It is most likely a typo or an oversite on their part. The clutch for a 97-2003 f-150 4.6 is the same. Have a look at spec clutch. http://www.specclutch.com/specMain.php They list the same numbers for all those model years.

Just My $0.02

I have an 89 brand X with over 200k miles, and I;m on the 3rd clutch.

Original lasted a long time.

Clutch #2 ( all components ) was an economy move, and I got what I payed for, a couple years.

Clutch #3 is all OEM, and it is like the Eveready bunny......going and going.

Unless you are really towing something huge, try the OEM replacements.

A Centerforce clutch is the way to go. I installed one in my old truck and it lasted well beyond 80,000 miles. Factory clutch was slipping by 50,000.
If I had a manual trans truck and it needed a clutch.....
Don't forget to change the throwout bearing. Check the pilot bearing and have the flywheel resurfaced. You won't be sorry.
