'sticky' transmission

I have a '94 F150 XL with manual transmission and have been having a difficult time shifting between first, second, and reverse.

I am wondering if it has to do with the transmission fluid level and if so have no idea where I locate the area to fill it or if this is something I can do with basic tools. A new clutch was put in not too long ago. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Howdy and welcome! The fluid should have been changed during the clutch job. Was it hard to shift before the clutch job or is this somthing new.

Easy to check the fluid on the M5OD. Should be level with mercon at the fill plug.

I'm experiencing the same thing on my '93 Explorer. Very hard to shift from 1st to 2nd. The other shifts are normal. Reverse, I have to horse it in.
I haven't taken it to a tranny shop yet, but a mech I know says it could be that the synchronizers are worn out. They are made out of brass and wear down eventually. The tranny fluid level is ok and nothing wrong with the clutch. Is the mech in the ballpark?

Any or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I also am having Hard to Shift Problems 1st, 2nd, & reverse. Mine is a 98 4.6 5 speed. I just had a new clutch kit installed however mine shifts fine when its cold but the hotter it gets the harder it gets and sometimes I have to put it in reverse THEN crank the engine. Shaun
