trans chatter
trans chatter
I have a 2000 F 150 six cyl five speed. When the engine is cold, the truck chatters as I let out the clutch. I have to rev into a higher rpm to overide it. Once the truck warms up, it is okay. Someone stated that it is a clutch cable that has become stretched out and needs replacing. They also said that the trainy needs to be dropped to do the job. It's all greek to me! What d'ya think?

I have the same thing with my 2003, 4.6, 5 speed. I thought it was the clutch too, but I'm thinking now it might be the limited slip diff. I feel it more in my backside than in the pedal.
Anyone agree??

Howdy and welcome! Sorry I missed this or I would have posted sooner.
Your trucks M5OD-R2 has a hydraulic clutch that uses a slave and master cylinder for control. First check the fluid in the reservoir thats underhood on the firewall for correct level. Other than that, it could be anypart of the clutch system (flywheel, clutch disk, throwout bearing, slave cyl, master cly) and the trans need to be dropped to examine them.
