Torque Converter

Are there any sensors or selinoids that control the torque converter that I could replace and see if it will fix the problem before I replace the torque converter.

There are several sensors and one solenoid.

Before replacing anything, what are your symptoms? Are there any codes? It is usually a costly idea to just replace parts without knowing what's wrong.

It runs fine in P or N if you put it D or R it dies. I have replaced the TPS, AIC, Cam sensor and the range selector switch on the transmission. If you put it in D and stomp on the gas it will go real sluggish at first and then it will smooth out. If you come to a stop without putting it in N it wiil die.

Your torque converter isn't unlocking. The causes of that, in the order of likelyness:

Low trans fluid
Loose internal trans filter
Short in the wiring to the solenoid
Bad lockup solenoid
Stuck valve in the valve body
Bad torque converter

That's the order I'd check it.

I have never seen a converter on one of these cause a no unlocking condition i'd suspect a bad solenoid.
