Help with tranny issue!

As of late my trans "looses it's gear". (e4OD)
While cruising 60-70 in OD the tranny quits pulling and the RPM's jump very breifly 1 second or less. This has become more frequent over the last week. This morning it did this 2-3 times in a row over a 6-7 second period.
This same thing occured in 3rd gear a few days ago.
Is there a selector position sensor or something that could be going or a linkage thats off?
By the way no code flashing on selector and all shifts feel great.
Any advise will be very much appreciated.

Truck info in Sig.

Get ready to buy, or rebuild, cause one day it will jump up in RPM's and never come back

Umm Thanks?
How about somebody a little more technical.
Wouldn't throw a code?

Almost sounds like the torque convertor unlocking and locking. RPM will rise when TC unlocks. Almost but not quite feels like a downshift.

Any Hope

Well still looking for any additional input here.
I forgot to mention I have changed the fluid and filter regularly (30,000).
Fluid currently appears clean and has no burnt odor. However when hot it appears about a quart overfull. Last change was about 6,000 ago.
Could this overfill cause the problem or may it have led to it's dimise.
I plan to drain the overage out this evening.
Again any input is much appreciated!

Yes there is.

The Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) is dying. You need a new one. It's on the driver's side of the transmission where the shift cable attaches. It's the part with the wiring harness connected. Replace this and your problem should go away.

Thanks for the response casey1. I really hope your right.
Local dealer has 1 in stock for $60.89 so it's certainly worth a shot.
I'll post results after the swap.

Casey_1 I owe you a cold one.

I installed the new sensor a couple nights ago PITA by the way, I had to bust the old one off and grind the nylon bushing off then sand the heck out of the shaft to get new unit on. However it's on and the tranny feels great.
170,000 and pulling strong.
Gotta love this board!
Thanks again!
