for you with FTVB on the 4r70w?

when you put it in reverse do you have a 2 second puase before it goes in reverse or does it do it instantly like going into drive? i can count two seconds before mine goes into reverse and just wanted to see if this is normal, tranny level is perfect and fresh(only 7,000 miles), thanks for any replies

Have you guys got Valve Bodies or Separator plates from FT? FT told me that the VB's are for the 4R100's and the SP's were for the 4R70W's...

My inquiring mind wants to know

Thanks

I have had the Factory tech valve body in my truck for over two years now. I feel no differance in forward and reverse enguagement it feels the same as stock and is just one transition into forward or reverse. All shifts are very crisp 1/2 is a little harsher than I would like, I have had Mike Troyer back the light trottle shift pressure twice and it is much better. The only broblem is on rainy days you better have it streight when it shifts if you are 1/2 throttle or more. Also my transmission fluid is just as red as when it was installed absolutly no burnt smell to it after a lot of hard usage and wide open runs.

Thanks BigTruck, I got the Plate today. I had spoke with FT, Bob I think. I just seen ya'll had the whole VB and I wanted to make sure he wasn't pullin my leg. I wanted to help my tranny all I could with the charger...Hope the SP isn't a half-a$% job.
By the way do you know if the 4R100 will bolt up to my 4.6?

The 4r100 will bolt up but the electronics package is totaly differant. computer and wiring harnes will be an issue. The 4r70 when properly modifyed can hold up well, is lighter in weight and consumes less horsepower loss because of lower rotatng mass. From what I have read on these posts the plate kit is very effective and is a little more adjustable, it was not yet on the market when I installed my mods. I understand that it gives you spring options for the one two accumaltor this is what makes the 1/2 shift firmness. Beside raising the shift pressures the system in both kits also speeds the filling of the shift drums/pistons which makes the shift quicker with less slipage which means less heat and less wear. All in all either the plate or the valve body is an excelant modifacation for the transmission when HP has been added. Very easy install just messy, I would also purchase a drain kit for the pan makes future draining very easy. Once in a while I get the urge to soften the one two shift but then I change my mind, I have always liked a firm shift.

Hey Bigtruck,

I did the plate last week, and mine has a definite 2 second delay going into drive and reverse, I have to bring the rpm's up to about 900 before it engages. Was fine before the plate mod...Any ideas? I'm ready to pull the plate out and go back to stock.

I have a totally stock E4OD (trans code E) on my 97 and it has that damn delay when going into reverse..... It's about 1-2 seconds delay before it engages.... I've shifted into reverse a coupl of times and gave it gas before it's engaged and it's not fun! Like needing to get out of the way of something coming towards you!!

Rise in RPMs, then a major bang into gear and some squeeling tires! Can't be good for the trans or the U joints....

I HATE IT!!

Mitch

My 4R70w with the factory tech valve body goes into drive and reverse with no delay. I can't rememer it when stock but I don't remember there being any differance. If you have a problem I would call or email Gregg Evans direct I'm shure he will do anything possable to help, His products and tech assistance is second to none in my opinion.
