88 F 150 clutch problem (linkage)??

88 F 150 clutch problem (linkage)??
Please help.
Here is the deal, when I press down on the clutch, I hear and feel a pop.
I looked @ the linkage, next to the petals etc and see what looks like a white plastic hinge. This "hinge" pops out when I press the clutch to the floor. I can pop it back in with my fingers, but once I apply preasure it pops right out.
I can still put into gear but its very hard, I must use muscle, it does go in though. BUT reverse is almost impossible, I must turn the truck off, go into reverse and then its good.
It seems like this hinge (when poped out) will not let me fully disengage the gears,,,causing grinding.
The "hinge" looks to be about a 1/2 inch and is white plactic and attaches to the clutch petal.
I need to find out the name of this part so I can order...please help.
And if anyone has ever done this repair, and info that you can provide would be much appreciated.!!
