Centerforce 1 or dual friction?
Centerforce 1 or dual friction?
Looks like i'll be needing a new clutch for my 99 f-150 4.2 5 speed soon. Many people recommend the Centerforce clutch. I went to their website and saw three different ones for my truck. One is Centerforce one and the other two are dual friction. What is the difference between these three?I don't do any towing or hauling, but do alot of stop and go driving on the freeway.Which one would be better for my type of driving? Thanks a "bunch"
I just installed the Centerforce dual friction clutch last week in my '98. The old one was slipping when trying to back my heavy boat up the driveway. I have not put many mles on the new one yet, but so far the new one is totally thumbs up.
I would put the heavy one in as you don't know when you may be in the trailering business. When I bought my truck, and even as recently as last year, I didn't think trailering was in my future, but here I am doing it now.

To answer your question the different clutches have different amounts of holding power. My dual friction claimed about 90% more holding power than stock clutch. Centerforce website talks about this.
