Question Noobie with a Question

Hey guys i am new to the site,i have had my Truck for about a year and some months,i bought it bone stock and have done alot since i got it,i did mostly Exterior mods, and finally go to the motor, i did the whole Downpipe and back exhaust with a Flowmaster 70,and K&N Intake, and have just started racing the truck,Mostly Slow Hemi's and SS trucks, but anyways,i Launch my truck and thats my strong point in the truck,i get to about like 70 in second, and then it like jumps to 4th,i don't understand why,i am almost high reving to like 5000RPM and this it drops to like 2000RPM in 4th gear and starts reving really slow passed 70mph.is this normal with the truck,or is it something i should get fixed, just want some help on this thing,i own alot of car,but this is my only auto,so i don't know if its normal thanks alot,i know its long but thanks for your time -Andy~

Shouldn't do that if you are at WOT. Of course if you choose to race, you should turn overdrive off anyways (better for the tranny).
Are you sure it's not just going into 3rd, or the torque converter locking up?

it shifts into 3rd gear, not 4th. i hot rod my v-6 and i use to get up to about 67 before shifting, now it is more like 77. one thing about racing is u should turn off the od. the od should be turn back on around 85-90. i know that i really dont need my od b/c about 98 it shifts into od and at 100 it hits the governor. if u have the v-8 i dont know, but from a v-6 point.

i hope this helps.

Wow. I have a stock 2002 F150 4.2L V6 and top out at about 55mph in 2nd gear. Well, thats as much as I push it. I'll see when i finally get a tach installed. I always turn off OD when I drive and auto around the city and race. Some dodge cars(95 intrepid) had automatic OD which kicked in by itself(annoying).
