excessive shifting

i have a 2004 F 150 with the 5.4 engine with limited slip. i get a lot of shuddering when i come to a stop. it seems that my transmission is getting into OD at 15 mph and as it trying to get back into first gear, it is having a problem. it also seems to continously downshift as i accelerate. even minimal acceleration at 25 mph and up will cause it to downshift. my thought is that it is going into overdrive too quickly.
i have taken it in several times to the dealership and they cannot find anything wrong. is anyone else experiencing this?

If your transmission is OD at 15 MPH, you indeed have a problem. The problem with the new computer controlled transmissions is untill you get over 40 MPH, you don't really know what gear their in or if the converter is locked up.

Any techs or wiring gurus know of a simple way to tap a wire for a LED to show when the converter is locked?

When you're towing a trailer & the converter unlocks in OD, the trans temps go up real fast. I always punch the OD button if it does something. Even if it's unlocked in 3rd. It doesn't generate as much heat.
