Output Shaft Speed Sensor
I have a 2000 F-150 4.2 with manual transmission. The service engine light came on giving the fault code for the OSS Sensor. I need to know the location of this sensor. Could anyone help? Many thanks.

Now I've come to yet another problem. I've been to several part stores, and each one has either told me that they do not carry the OSS Sensor, or they try to sell me the VSS Sensor. I've even gone to Ford, but even they try to sell me the VSS Sensor as well. Does anyone know the Ford Part No. for the OSS Sensor? Thank you.
If you had an automatic transmission you would have both an OSS and a VSS, but the manual transmission only has a VSS. Basically they are redundant sensors, both providing an input to the PCM for output shaft speed.
I read another post where someone said they got an oss sensor at autozone. You might try there. I'm curious does anyone know how much an OSS sensor costs? My tranny is acting funny I think I might need to replace mine.
