transmission trouble, Help!

I installed the ftvb the other day, long story but accidently took out the wrong valve body. The checkballs fell. I found a diagram and put everything back and it worked great. The new valve body shifted the lightning very hard, felt real nice. While racing a GMC Typhoon the truck died after hitting red line at WOT. Now it won't shift out of first gear unless I left off of the gas. Also, the overdrive switch wasn't working, turned out to be just a fuse, replaced and overdrive switch works fine. Any ideas on what might be wrong would be very helpful.

Thanks

Mike

Could be a stuck shift valve or an accumulator valve. Did you torque the valve body bolts to spec? You could also have a more serious problem such as a seized intermediate sprag or burned intermediate clutches. Have you checked for codes yet?

The check engine light is not on, so I have not checked for codes. Everything has been tourqued to factory specs, checked twice. The stuck valve is what I am praying for, but we shall see.
