e4od – can’t disable overdrive

I have searched the forums for folks with the same problem but didn’t find anything. If there are some please link me.

I was going to trailer my tj to a trail ride with my 1997 f150 when I found that my Off indicator light would not come on when I pushed the button to disable the overdrive. Thinking it may be the light, I went around the block and found that the overdrive was not disabled at all.

Is this a common problem? Could it be the switch or solenoid on the trans?

It's the wiring in the shifter. Remove the plastic from the steering column and inpsect the wires that go to the shifter. I'm sure you will find them broken.
