Transmission Fluid/Filter Change

I have a 1998 Ford F150 4x4 with a 5.4 Liter. I want to change the fluid and filter because it is beginning to shift hard from low to second. The manual did not come with the truck. I am assuming I need about 6 quarts to refill. Anyone know? Also, I wanted to add some Lucas to it for one quart.

Thanks in advance.

Try THIS method. Removing the pan will get 5-7 quarts, which is less than half of the total. This method will change about 95%.

My understanding is that you definitely do NOT want to put anything but tranny fluid in these units. Other additives are harmful to the tranny and will shorten its life. Especially if you have Mercon V fluid!
