1993 AOD Acting strange

I have a 93 f150 w/a0d transmission. It has 125000 miles on it. Shifting from first through 3 is fine, nice and smooth. Overdrive works as well but the problem lies with deceleration. The truck always seems to be slowing down when coasting as if I was driving a manual transmission and down shifted. Is this normal? I don't notice any TC lockup either, no noticeable engine rpm decrease. I don't know the history of this car as far as fluid changes are concerned. Can anyone tell me if what I'm experiencing is normal? I also have a windstar with auto trans and there is no comparison, shifts smooth and will "coast" some while decelerating. Thanks

You either have the E4OD, or the 4R70W. What is the trans code on the door sticker?

Its not the electronic OD. There is no switch on the shift lever. It has the position for over drive or I can go to the 3rd gear position to stay out of overdrive. The trans code on the door is a T

Really? So the indicator is PRN(D)D1? That is the AOD then. I guess the first year for the 4R70w was 94 then.

FWIW, my wife had an early '90's T-bird with the AOD. I called that thing 'downhill racer'. There was no engine braking whatsoever in OD until you got to very high speeds. Combined with the aerodynamic shape and heavy weight, that thing would continue to gain speed down any long freeway grade unless you shifted down to 3rd or applied the brakes.

It's an AOD, they do not have lockup they have a direct drive system that directly connects in 3rd and 4th gears using dual input shafts.
