Delayed shift 1st/2nd automatic 1999

My "Ole Bessie" is delaying her shift between first and second. Then when she's ready, second gear hits harder than normal. It will also shutter at times during higher speeeds? 1999, F150, auto transmission, 127k miles. Please tell me it's something like a plug in selenoid valve! I never had the fluid changed, but it looks red to me,.... not to dirty. Hope someone has a answer?
Thanks,
Steve in Marlton,NJ

I'd change that fluid as well.

I change mine every 30K miles.

It needs to be replaced periodically, perhaps not as often as I do it but definitely before 127K miles.

It could also be a broken accumulator spring. They are about as easy to change as a solenoid.
