hydro clutch

I have searched on here and have learned that the slave cylinder is basicly a pos. Does anyone know how water and air get into the system and has there been any good improved replacement slaves for this junk? I have done gone through one slave at 75000 (tolerated it for a long time). Also I have read that bleeding will help maintain it and what fluid should I use? Finally, does anyone think that ford will come back out with the 5spd with a v8?

They used to call for DOT3 Brake fluid but I have not had one since 88. Check your book.

DOT 3 is Correct

I just bled mine this weekend, it says right on top of the fill resevoir.

I too changed my slave about 75K, mines not leaking however the trans. isn't totally disengaging. If I pump the pedal a few times, it helps. That's why I thought it had air in it. I've got 118K now, all city driving. It was suggested to me that it's probably the clutch master cyl. It's been pumped many ,many times in the last 13 years. Seals are probably worn out.

Anyone replace their Hyd. Clutch Master Cyl ? It looks straight forward enough.
